Your body will adapt to a decrease in calories by lowering your metabolism. Please don’t decrease your calories by starving yourself. Your body will sense that you’re starving it and will hold on to as much fat as humanly possible. Avoid extreme thin skinny diets that tell you to focus on a certain kind of food. Your body has a lot of different parts that require different kinds of nutrients… Hence, you need food from all the food groups to maintain a healthy balance of nutrients to all those parts.
Are you too thin and skinny? How would you know?
Be honest with yourself… Look in the mirror and ask yourself the following:
- Do you have a body mass index of less than 2 to 3 points below average for your height and weight?
- Do you experience menstrual irregularities or even lack of menstruation?
- Have you ever been diagnosed with anemia or any deficiency in vitamins or minerals?
- Are your bones visible through your skin? Specifically in the rib cage and collarbone area?
- Are you more than 15% under the normal body weight for your height?
If you answered YES to any of the above, you might have an eating problem. You might even be malnourished!
Remember… It’s important that you love your body. One of the best ways to show your body that you love it is to get strong… Get in shape and yet maintain an attactive, thin, muscular structure instead of being thin skinny.
